For two people only, a free video call by using Skype can work well. This will require a webcam and the software. Skype’s high quality verison only works under Windows, but the quality is reasonable. Note that your bandwidth must be reasonable to get good video streaming, and try a test video call before the big business call.
The Skype site makes some promises:
“High Quality Video comes with the latest release of Skype. It’s so clear that you could speak in sign language or see the picture your son drew for you today. … If you want to make High Quality Video calls – our clearest, crispest, sharpest ever video quality, you’ll need the latest version of Skype for Windows, an optimised High Quality Video webcam with the latest webcam software. Plus a dual core processor PC and a fast broadband connection. Not only is the picture really sharp, but you can blow it up to a decent-sized window without losing any quality.”
In another post, we will try to come up with a review of the best video conferencing choices, given today’s technology, for multiple parties.
